Zilda Arns was born in Forquilhinha, Santa Catarina, Brazil, into a family of German immigrants.
Driven by her compassion for the underprivileged, she pursued a degree in medicine and later specialized in public health to address infant mortality in impoverished nations.
Humanitarian Activism
Arns founded the Pastoral da Criança (Child's Pastoral Care), an international organization dedicated to nurturing the health and well-being of vulnerable children.
